Modern public lighting is expected to deliver more than illumination. Today, it must combine design, functionality, energy efficiency – and most importantly, safety for human health. One of the key concerns is photobiological risk.
What is photobiological safety and why does it matter?
Photobiological safety refers to the impact of light sources on human eyesight and skin. According to the DIN EN 62471 standard, lighting products are classified into four risk groups – from Exempt Group (RG0), which is entirely safe, to Risk Group 3 (RG3), which may pose serious health risks.
Our LED luminaires for public lighting are certified in the safest category – RG0, which means:
They pose no photobiological hazard, even with long-term exposure,
They are safe for all age groups,
They meet the strictest health and safety regulations.
This certification reflects our responsible approach to technology and our commitment to protecting public health and the quality of urban spaces. Public lighting should not only be efficient and visually appealing – it must also be safe for eyes and overall well-being.
With RG0-certified street lights, we offer illumination that serves its purpose safely and with respect for people and the environment.
